The evening of July 25, 2025, was a rather busy one at the Taj Mahal Palace, New Delhi. The foyer was bustling with VIP and VVIP guests, all gathered to witness the creative brilliance of master couturiers Falguni and Shane Peacock at the 18th edition of the Hyundai FDCI India Couture Week 2025.

The collection “Raj Mahal Bijoux” struck the perfect balance between Indian royal grandeur and modern couture experimentation, one outfit at a time. Inspired by the timeless splendour of maharajas and maharanis, Falguni Shane Peacock’s couture collection is an ode to the magnificence of Indian royalty. From opulent lehengas and jewelled sherwanis to heart-cut gowns and metallic corsets, the collection was a true representation of Falguni Shane Peacock’s maximalist design aesthetic.

Along with the signature silhouettes, the couture pieces showcased structured tailoring coupled with fluid drapes and unconventional designs. The ensembles featured classic embroidery, swathed in Swarovski crystals, beads, sequins, stones, feathers, fringes, and tassels, creating ultra-glamorous outfits.

The monumental show was a standout moment for the brand as it reaffirmed FSP’s reputation for creating unapologetically dramatic yet deeply rooted couture.

Raj Mahal Bijoux draws inspiration from the grandeur of Jaipur’s City Palace and Baroda’s Laxmi Villas Palace, focusing on the intricate carvings and unmatched artistry.

The models graced the ramp dressed in lavishly designed lehengas, sarees, and gowns drenched in an eclectic mix of ornate embellishments. From classic flared lehengas to contemporary mermaid gowns adorned with feathered hemlines, the splendid collection showcased a range of bridal and party-wear lehengas in a vibrant palette of colours.

Draped sarees, larger-than-life capes, embellished jackets, and fluid dupattas added movement and structure to the elegant silhouettes. Along with the signature Falguni Shane Peacock elements, the stellar collection also boasted an extensive use of metalwork, bustier detailing, and dramatic keyhole cut-outs.

The menswear collection this year was a surprising upgrade, with dapper tuxedos taking centre stage along with ever-so-decked-up sherwanis, tailored in a tasteful palette of colours. The highlight, though, was the blinged-up metal bow ties and brooches, elevating the modern glam look.

The glorious show was concluded with the ever-so-stylish Akshay Kumar walking as the showstopper dressed in a dapper sherwani. The actor was dressed in an ivory silk bandhgala, featuring elaborate silk-thread embroidery all over. While the padded shoulders and side slits imparted a refined look, the golden buttons added a delightful contrast. The tailored creation was paired with a pair of white straight-fit pants and glimmering juttis for a cohesive yet captivating look.
