The opening night for the 16th edition of FDCI’s Hyundai India Couture Week 2023 confirmed the reforming and celebratory future of Indian couture, and Falguni Shane Peacock’s timeless play of artistry and craftsmanship are to be thanked.

The Fashion Design Council of India’s (FDCI) Hyundai India Couture Week has been a coveted platform of the rich and distinctive fashion artistry of India. The stage has been honouring Indian culture, techniques and craftsmanship since years, allowing new, evolved and visionary designers to take centre stage and present the best of Indian craftsmanship for generations to appreciate and embrace.

Falguni Shane Peacock have been pioneers in promoting the legacy of couture and thus have been presenting their best of fashion since 2005. Taking that legacy ahead, FALGUNI SHANE PEACOCK presented their collection, ‘Renaissance Reverie’ at the FDCI’s opening show. The collection was an invitation to indulge in a world of artistry, craftsmanship and the sheer magic that happens when two cultures interwine.

Talking more about the collection, the designer duo said, “The ‘Renaissance Reverie’ collection is a testament to our love for art and the treasures we discover during our travels. We are thrilled to unveil our collection that draws inspiration from the captivating Renaissance period. These creations pay homage to the rich artistic heritage of the era while seamlessly blending it with the intricate rich Indian culture, techniques and craftsmanship.”

“Inspired by the vibrant colours found in art and the remarkable influences of embroidery textures, our collection embodies a harmonious fusion of two distinct cultures. It celebrates the essence of the Renaissance era, showcasing the timeless beauty of its art, architecture, and fashion, while simultaneously showcasing the artistic mastery of Indian Influence and Indian inspirations fused with traditional craftsmanship in this collection, you will witness a kaleidoscope of colours inspired by art, where every shade tells a story,” they added.

From the luscious strawberry yoghurt and Acapulco sand to the understated elegance of Portland grey and sandshell beige, each hue in the collection is carefully selected to evoke emotions and create a visual masterpiece. Vibrant accents of sugar coral, primrose yellow, and purple ash add a modern twist, while aztec brown and almandine infuse depth and allure. Delicate touches of ivory whites harmonise the palette, providing a canvas for the intricate embroidery and textures to shine.

Each garment in the collection tells a story of cultural exchange and pays tribute to the invaluable lessons the designers have learned from the past. The intricate embroidery techniques and handcrafted details reflect the meticulous workmanship of the skilled artisans, who have expertly merged the grandeur of the Renaissance with the richness of Indian heritage.”

Kiara Advani, looking stunning as ever, took centre stage as the muse for the 16th edition of FDCI’s Hyundai India Couture Week 2023. In Falguni Shane Peacock’s showstopper ensemble, Advani exuded a Barbie-core charm, dressed in a plush pink outfit.

The skirt was adorned with a shimmering array of sequins, beads and crystals, while numerous acrylic flowers in the same hue added a touch of elegance. Paired with the skirt is a bralette-style top, featuring a plunging neckline and adorned with delicate tassels—perfectly capturing the essence of the collection ‘Renaissance Reverie.’
